May 31 DotNetFilter.com registeredYesterday I upgraded my shared hosting plan to ASP.NET 2.0 / SQL Server 2005 and I registered a new domain name for my forthcoming site. Originally I signed my ASP.NET 1.1 / SQL Server 2000 plan last year with Crystaltech, but I never had time to do anything with it. Also .NET 2.0 was released and SQL Server 2005 came out and I thought that it would be time to upgrade. So plan was upgraded, but the web host stays the same.
So do I have time and motivation to build my site now ? Yes !!! Well, time is of course a limited asset but motivation is very high. And as I mentioned, I also registered a domain name, dotnetfilter.com. Perhaps later this week I activate my domain so that requests for dotnetfilter.com are redirected to my MSN Spaces -blog. But eventually I'll redirect the requests to my new site when it's ready.
If I look at my schedule now, my new site should be ready sometime September (I hope!). So there are still few months to go with my Spaces -account. Although Spaces offers an easy way to host and maintain my blog, I'd llike to build a blog all by myself. By that way I can learn so much more from ASP.NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005.
I'll probably change my blogging style too. I have been thinking of running a .NET link blog. I think that lately that's what my blogging has mainly been. It's pretty much links with just couple of sentences commenting what the link is all about. So instead of chitchat, posting just the links would do the same thing. But that would mean that posts would include much more link stuff at once, not just one. And if I move to purely to link blog format, then I have to consider my publishin policy too. Perhaps it's not on daily basis like so far.
Well, there are still lot's of questions in the air, but I think that most of them are answered in couple of months.
Anyway, remember dotnetfilter.com. It will be activated soon. I'll post more details when that happens. May 30 Hey, nice handlers !!!I must admit I haven't used HttpHandlers that much, but Karl Seguin has some advice on the topic. Downloaded. Installed. May 22 XLinq PortalXlinq Portal - stuff about Xlinq. Although I mentioned in a LINQ post sometime ago that this stuff is too early for me to learn, it's good to keep yourself informed what is happening in this space too.
